Sir Alf
Johnson did well as he has more skill than most defenders. Fredericks doesn't, he has pace and that is all really. He was in a good position for his goal and took it well as he was able to go further to the right, a more natural move. Watch his movement and lack of composure when him bombs down the right. There could be justifcation for Coufal to have a break for a game maybe not against Spurs as he'll be up for it. If we went to a back 5 with both Fredericks and Johnson on the wings then we would have pace but I'll be reluctant for Fredericks to play tbh.

I just think Moyes thinks clean sheet first before can we score, it’s this defensive attitude that basically meant he was shit at Man U, there the players would have been good enough and used to taking games to the opposition. So I can tell you now h3 will stick to what he knows and play it tight against the spuds hoping to score on the break or from a set piece.

It can't be DOGSO, mate. A penalty (goal scoring opportunity) was awarded.

That's why they brought in the double jeopardy thing.

If in the ref's opinion, the foul which prevented a goal scoring chance and leads to a penalty be awarded, is deliberate, the offending player can be red carded.

No Vexed, similar role to Johnson protecting the right side like we did against Villa.

Agree Swiss.

Kane did Cresswell back post last season at the Bowl IIRC?

I like the 3 in the sense it gives Johnson a role and he helps secure the left side. It was the right side where we look more vulnerable recently. Coufal without Bowen wide right is being stretched and sometimes finding 2 down his side. For Spurs and probably I'm alone on this, it might be worth Fredericks a run out in a similar role to Johnson. Like Johnson he was once a winger but will help protect against the pace of Son?

The problem with the back 3 including Creswell is he gets exposed. Twice he was up against their centre forward. If that's Kane it's a goal.

Before the game I was fuming FUMING with both the Management and the Board for leaving us so short up front. I really thought Sheff U might grind out a draw.

But once again I'm left holding my hands up and saying Moyes has done it again.

Some proper tasty games coming up now.. Spurs, City, Leeds, ManU, Arsenal.

If it helps, against Man U or Liverpool, he'd definitely have been sent off.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Sheff U - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
I loved that we were clinical, but the scoreline was pretty flattering.

I was worried about how much possession and territory we willingly gave up to such a poor side, and with a striker worth the name in their side, it could easily have been a different outcome. We've got into a habit of really letting opposition teams dictate games, which led to such meek performances at Liverpool and Man U. This lot were pretty easy to hit on the break because they are dogshit, but that's not a legitimate way to play for a team in the position we are in and it won't work against better sides.

Sure, we won and kept a clean sheet but the formation baffled me. Simply didn't see why we needed five at the back, unless Moyes is that worried about Diop? All it did was take one creative/attacking player off the pitch for us. Against a team rock bottom of the table, it seemed over cautious.

It was great to see Johnson get a game and he played well, but it was a handicap for us and him sticking him on the left. He had to turn and go back almost all the time because he has no left foot. Not his fault the RB/RWB is a really good player, but it just seems a bit of a waste and not a huge gain for the team as a whole, sticking him out there. Very happy with his development as a player though.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't have a go at Spurs though. Sitting way back against them is going to yield similar results to Man U and Liverpool. They are w ounded duck with only 2 wins in 7 (WBA and Sheff U)
Please just be aggressive and go for the jugular.

No, I agree Razzle. Absolutely no attempt to get the ball and possibly dangerous.

It was completely idiotic because Lingard didn't even really have control of the ball.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Sheff U - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
I thought he Sheff Utd should have been sent off for the penalty last night. I didnt see that as a genuine attempt to play the ball as he came through the back of Jlingz and was nowhere near the ball, so a DOGSO red card.

Or just me?

My worry is if we try that soak it up and counter attack on Sunday, son and kane will rip us to shreds.
